Previewing Files
Single-click any file in the web app to open the preview. The lightbox renders images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF), PDFs, and Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) directly in the browser.
Thumbnails in folder grids
Section titled “Thumbnails in folder grids”File rows in folder views show small thumbnails for previewable file types. Other files keep the generic file-type icon. Thumbnails appear within a few seconds of upload — the server renders them in the background and the row updates automatically.
Opening a preview
Section titled “Opening a preview”Click a file row in any folder. The preview opens in a full-screen lightbox.
- Esc or the Close preview button dismisses it.
- The Download button in the lightbox saves the original file to disk.
When a preview isn’t available
Section titled “When a preview isn’t available”Some files won’t render a preview. The lightbox tells you why:
- Preview not available — the file type isn’t supported (e.g.
.zip,.exe, source code). Use Download to view the file in its native application. - Previews are turned off — your administrator has disabled previews for your company. Files still upload, sync, and download normally.
- Preview failed — the file is corrupt or used an unusual format the renderer couldn’t read. Download still works.
- Still rendering — the preview is being generated in the background. This usually only takes a few seconds; if it’s still pending after a while, you’ll see a manual Try again button.
Downloading instead of previewing
Section titled “Downloading instead of previewing”The download action moved to the file’s right-click menu. Right-click any file row and choose Download to save it without opening the preview.
